Avocado Enthusiasts

Mom and I are what the California Avocado Commission calls avocado enthusiasts. Mom was ecstatic to read about avocados nutritious benefits. Besides the obvious use as food, avocados can also be used for skin and face care:

Avocados are rich in skin-soothing vitamin E, an essential fat-soluble vitamin that provides moisturizing properties for the skin from within and as a topical application.

Vitamin E may also decrease some of the harmful effects of solar radiation, reduce UV-induced damage, protect against ozone damage and decrease skin redness after sun exposure.

Avocado preparations do not clog the skin's pores.

Avocado oil is highly therapeutic for dry skin and eczema because it is a penetrating substance rich in vitamins A, B1, B2 panthothenic acid, E and lecithin and fatty acids.

As a food, avocados contain an effective combination of monounsaturated fat and powerful antioxidants that nourish the skin from within and reduce stress.

Just click on the link above and then on "The Avocado Touch" to see directions for home-spa treatments.

Si, Senor. At Joy Yee's in Chinatown, they have an avocado freeze (I haven't sampled that one).
