Give Me the Voice of God

That's what James Earl Jones was told when he was taping a radio commercial. Mr. Jones is better known for being the voice of Darth Vader. Today, I was driving on the expressway and listening to "Fresh Air" on NPR when I heard the familiar voice. Mr. Jones published a memoir, "Voices and Silences" in 1994, and discussed how he overcame his stuttering.
I didn't know Darth Vader stuttered!

One of his high school teachers saw James' love for poetry, and mentioned it was a shame he didn't try to "sound out" poems. So thru poetry, James Earl Jones learned how to overcome his stuttering. He said his stuttering is always with him; he has to be sure not to speak to fast. Emotional moments in real life and on the film set can also cause the stuttering to reemerge. This was a terrific interview; I always enjoy hearing Darth's voice.

A review on "Motorcycle Diaries" was the next segment, but I didn't get to hear it since I had to exit my car.

James Earl Jones is The Voice.

He is an amazing individual, a living proof that anything can be achieved if there is a will.

wow, imagine if he had never overcome his stuttering. We would have all missed out on that great voice. I think he is also the voice of Simba's father on the Lion King. Its a very serious and deep voice that commands a lot of attention.
