In a study of more than 10,000 people, British researchers identified the most stressful occupations, and on top of their list were: ambulance staff, teachers, social service workers, call center operators, prison officers, administrative staff, and police.
What’s the connection? Even though these jobs may seem extremely diverse, the one common thread that connects them all is that they must deal, face to face, with a “high degree of emotional labor” every day. Job stress can have negative effects on your health in and out of the office, so if you work in any of these fields, or you feel that your job causes you a lot of distress (negative stress) it’s important that you acknowledge this problem and start dealing with stress constructively.
