What a lovely way
to wake up this morning,
with nature drumming
on my rooftop,
the thunder as my alarm clock,
(not easy to snooze thunder)
and a favorite British voice spinning
in my CD player....
Reminds me of the tropics...
The Amazon -
Lovely Peruvian evening,
Flying into Iquitos,
with storms flaring
in the distance,
Visible from my plane's window,
amidst the dusk's
shades of purple and orange.
Piranhas, anacondas,
and other exotic creatures
greet us below.

Piranhas and Anacondas?
Yup, it sounds welcoming, I feel like going for a swim right about now.
;-)
Nice poem!
I agree what a wonderful way to wake up...
ah, Peru...I can still hear the plane's engine as it made it's descent.
