The south side of the city was rocking this afternoon. The fireworks lit the summerlost sky several times. The crowd roaring with every run. The humidity was wearing out its welcome on a gracious host..Autumn. She didn't let this visitor ruin the Soxtober fest commencing in the Midwest.
My team won game 1 today, defeating Boston with a score of 14 to 2. What the baseball nation saw on the field today was a talented group of players who live by their slogan "Win or Die Trying".
It is a team that was largely ignored by the national AND local media. It's hard getting any love in a Cubs town. ESPN analysts refused to acknowledge the White Sox were EVEN a major league team. During the early part of the baseball season, the words White Sox were barely muttered. But we don't care what they or anybody else says. We stopped paying attention to them a long time ago. As the negative coverage continued with each month, we continued to believe. The faithful knew we were a good team.....we know we deserve to be in the postseason.
What's in our hearts is what matters.
There will always be forces that try to crush your spirit.
Forces which tell you that you aren't good enough.
Ignorance.....jealousy.....hatred......evil
With evil chasing us down in the last weeks of the season, we bounced back....got back on track.
The White Sox returned to playing the game the way they were in the beginning of the season. They never lost faith in themselves and the determination to win.
Team spirit.....team chemistry........team pride.....Sox Pride.....White Sox Pride
