Is there a doctor on board?

You KNOW what this will be about......

a woman wakes up...sweaty...lightheaded,
calls the flight attendant,
she drifts in and out
can't keep her eyes open
can't speak clearly
she fades in and out
woman begins to lose consciousness...

Meanwhile, certain medical professionals are engaged in other activities....like reading about a serial killer and the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893.

Blah blah blah blah........no one died.........end of story
some think they were heroes..others think they were just doing their jobs.

** i don't know how often OTHER doctors experience in-flight emergencies, but i seem to be summoned quite frequently. At least, this started to happen once i was a resident instead of a medical student. Don't know how helpful i would have been as a medical student. Luckily it has never been a pregnant passenger.....but i think i might feel MORE comfortable with that situation :)

I don't know the actual cause of this passenger's condition. At first, she couldn't give us much information. At least there was a neurologist on board too. The paramedics evaluated her when we landed.

No one ever asks if there is a computer programmer on board. Being is a doctor is one of those things you can never step away from.

Zataod,
unless the computers on the plane begin to malfunction...perhaps then the pilot might ask for help...or would he want a mechanic?

but it is very true that being a physician is a job that u take with you wherever u go...even when u go home....u might still be working (ie...phone calls from the answering service if it is ur turn)

If the onboard computer began to malfunction, I would be just as useless as anyone else on board. Programmers generally are very specialized in what they can do. There is far more that I don't know about computers than what I do know.
