scapegoat

i am Mexican
i am scapegoat
Mexican = scapegoat

how did this come to be?
history is our teacher........the teacher of hard lessons.....ugly lessons
there is always a scapegoat

the neighborhood i grew up in on the south side of chicago
was ...is ...a miniature America.
The meatpacking industry attracted all sorts of immigrants....poor people to this area
just like other industries do today .....
WORK

the opportunity of WORK
flooded this neighborhood with immigrants from Europe.
The Irish had the special designation of all the immigrants
the Irish were the scapegoat
much like how the Mexican is today

Like i commented on another blog:
this is all a distraction
from the fucked up way Bush is running the government....from the misdirected WAR.
all to cloud us...to cover our eyes from the real problems.

i don't think it's to make us assimilate....
Gringos love anything "Latin"....don't ya know we are "hip"

YOU don't want Mexicans in YOUR country
but you like having some Mexican ass (pussy)
but you like blasting some "Latin" beats in your trendy supermarkets
but you like taking salsa dancing lessons in downtown
but you like learning cooking tips
from that Rick Bayless show "Mexico, One Plate at a Time" on PBS

but you refuse to see
we are more that some trendy music, food, sexual flavor of the month
but you refuse to see
WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS too
WE are NOT some marketing fad

and WE REFUSE
to be YOUR scapegoat
for the poor state of OUR government.......
for the potential downfall of OUR nation.
America already had problems.....serious problems.
WE REFUSE to take the blame for some "post turtle" president....
and His mismanagement of OUR government.

I feel this sentiment all the time. You have spoken what is in my mind. Thanks for putting it out there.

Ahh... i see this attitude towards Indians and Pakistani's in my own country... we embrace the food etc (especially the food!)

And treat the hardworking asian citizens of this country with disdain and revulsion.

Not all of us, though... just that persistent hardcore who think they're better than every foreigner... even the "foreigners" who were born here... all these xenophobes who live in fear, and thus make everyone else live in fear, too.
