We know how it ended......just like this.
Joel recently posted on the movie..."The Motorcycle Diaries". Of course, it led to some Che discussion on his site.
I'm happy someone in Hollywood had the vision to make the film "The Motorcycle Diaries" because it was what truly introduced me to Che. (I know...how sad it took me so long to find out about him). I knew the name but American politicians/American history portrays him as "evil"....as a troublemaker because of his connection to Cuba...to communism.
Cuba is not evil...Cuban people are not evil. They are not responsible for Fidel's actions.
The brainwashing of America with respect to Cuba started decades ago. Americans were made to fear Cuba...mistrust Cuba. It is time for it to stop. Stop the fear.
Just like it is time to stop the one dimensional portrayal of Che. It is time to honor Che for what he stood for ....what he fought for.....for representing the impoverished. The film, "The Motorcycle Diaries", did that beautifully.
What can I say.....it is great being liberated from the Cold War haze.....the Cold War propaganda.
Like Joel, i share something of Che's.....excerpt from Che's last letter to his children:
(this is my favorite part)
Above all, try always to be able to feel deeply any injustice committed against any person in any part of the world. It is the most beautiful quality of a revolutionary.
Until always, little children. I still hope to see you again.
A really big kiss and a hug from Papa.

You're so right about the Cuba brainwashing that goes on...
The true evil associated with Cuba is the economic sanctions that the US has shamelessly continued for decades... Fidel is no saint, but he's not the monster he's made out to be either... the people of Cuba do not have money, but they have enough to eat, they have access to excellent medical care, and opportunities for a quality education... those are things that many did not have before Fidel.
Once again, I'm not saying he's a saint- he is very oppressive and at times violent towards any political thinking contrary to that of his party... He's also probably guilty of filling his pockets with cash... but the crimes committed against his country by the US far out weigh the crimes he has committed towards his county on a personal level.
These economic sanctions have never hurt Fidel- we need only look at the length of his tenure in office to see that... the sanctions only serve to hurt the common people of Cuba... btw blocking food and medicine (which is essentially what the sanctions are about) is a blatant violation of human rights laws... not to mention the flagrant and undeniable terrorist attacks such as crop burnings- bombings- and assassination attempts the US has committed... it's a complete joke to see US "leaders" on TV wagging their hypocritical fingers at the PLO or at Iran when they are in fact one of the leading supporters of Terrorism in this world... one look at who this Nation supports in the Middle East, Latin America, or Asia shows a classic picture of what hypocrisy is all about.
I didn't mean to get off on a rant there, but I'm having an angry kind of week and needed to vent.
Joel,
no problem.....i'm glad that u did say so much in your comment ;)
