Sugar Daze

Como te dije.....i knew i would see the pineapple hair again...this afternoon.

After the panel discussion on "Mexican-American Identity" which was part of the Chicago Humanities Festival, I indulged on a slice of the Big Meaty pizza with Mariposa. I had no idea how "meaty" the Big Meaty was. It was worthy of its name with the 4 different kinds of meat for toppings. When I first peeked at it, I thought it only had sausage and pepperoni. But it was good! When we got into my car to head home, I offered Mariposa a piece of my brownie which I hadn't nibbled into yet. As I drove, we talked about all the Scorpios in my life......I didn't know there were so MANY. We jumped to other topics of conversation such as learning other languages. Meanwhile, I thought my Mariposa was munching away on her half of the brownie. Somewhere along the trip, she mentioned..."I'm starting to feel the brownie". I thought.....Oh too much sugar...must be a very sweet brownie.

When I arrived home and gathered the things from my car, I looked at the brownie.
She BARELY touched it. She took a itsy bitsy corner of it. I thought she at least ate half of it. The image of my little Mariposa in a sugar daze made me smile (and I DIDN'T burst out in my "evil" laughter). I should have taken a picture of the brownie....but its gone....i ate it already ...when i drank my late afternoon coffee :)
